2009 ARCA RE/MAX SERIES SCHEDULE

General News http://arcaracing.com/images/stories/Daytona/daytonastart.jpg

2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series Schedule Released TOLEDO OH (10-30-08) - The ARCA RE/MAX Series, long recognized as the most versatile touring series in motorsports, has released its 2009 schedule to include 22 events in 13 states and Canada. A diverse combination of superspeedways, short tracks, dirt tracks and road course racing will make up the 2009 tour, in its 57th consecutive season of competition.

"We're extremely proud of the depth of quality of the venues on the 2009 schedule, each of which is very important to the identity and industry position of the ARCA RE/MAX Series," said ARCA President Ron Drager. "The number of scheduled events remains stable at a level we've found to be appropriate, and we're pleased with the geographic coverage represented by the markets we'll be racing in."

The season, as it has since 1964, will open at Daytona Int'l Speedway with the 46th annual ARCA 200 at Daytona on February 7th, live on SPEED TV. The event will serve as a preamble for the same-day NASCAR Sprint Cup Budweiser Shootout. The '09 tour will conclude at Rockingham Speedway on October 11th, the second of two appearances at "The Rock". In between, the series will appear at a wide variety of venues, including the 2.25-mile New Jersey Motorsports Park road course and a return trip to Cayuga Motor Speedway in Canada, giving the series international flavor.

Superspeedways returning for events in 2009 include Daytona, Kentucky Speedway, Kansas Speedway, Michigan Int'l Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Pocono Raceway and Talladega Superspeedway. The 2009 Talladega event is the 48th RE/MAX Series appearance at the renowned 2.66-mile Alabama speedplant since 1969, and the upcoming events at Pocono mark the 48th and 49th appearances of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Pocono since 1983.

Alterations to the superspeedway schedule include dates at Talladega and Kansas, both of which are changing in 2009. The traditional Talladega date, which had been in early October, will shift to April 24th in companion with the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series. The date at Kansas, which had been in late April, will move to October 1st, also in conjunction with NASCAR's two top series.

Short-tracks hosting events include Salem Speedway in Indiana, Toledo Speedway in Ohio, Berlin Raceway in Michigan, Iowa Speedway, Cayuga in Hagersville, Ontario, the annual mile-dirt races at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, and the Music City Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee. The ARCA RE/MAX Series has conducted 23 races at the Nashville fairgrounds oval beginning in 1959, but has not appeared there since 1992.

Companion events in 2009 include races with the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series as well as with the IndyCar Series and the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series.

SPEED TV will return in 2009 with coverage of ARCA RE/MAX Series races as established in its multi-year agreement. The televised event schedule is traditionally released at the ARCA RE/MAX Series' championship awards banquet in December.

New Update Post

General NewsPosted at RSC by RCoulter
-------------------------------------------

We are working to make this next patch a pretty big one. We are aware of the need for tracks as well as our promise to provide them and we are doing everything we can to get them out to you as soon as we can.

At this point I see MIS, Toledo...possibly Charlotte, Daytona RC as zip said which was already integrated and a touchy topic, but ISI was contracted for 6 tracks out of their library and we may throw a few of those in just for fun. I dont want to hear any remarks on this.

As for physics...right now its a pretty drastic change. The new suspensions bring out many performance characteristics we once hoped to bring in...but wouldnt sacrafice another positive in doing so. I think alot are there now without the loss of another area of the car or performance envelope. Alot more edge or volitile reactions based off of pushing the car.

But as is life...pushing in usually means pushing more on or off throttle. But more sensativity on turn in or exit which is something we are very excited about.

In these changes come aero data integration based off of warped front end body geometry as well as new aero data. This means more buildup of aero on the front end during yaw which creates a realistic and natural arcing to the car on turn-in through apexing as well as exit. The byproduct is more throttle control as well as less wheel on entrance and more through apex and exit as it should be.

Also the new suspensionss bring out dynamic camber and cross weigths as they should be.

A big positive to the aero packagae is also that running too much tape can straight up be too much downforce as it should be.

Engines are also being refined...this doesnt mean perfection...but the next level of mass testing.

Tire modeling has changed slightly in the areas of below/above temp grip loss as well as off pressure grip loss. Also the overall wear rates have been adjusted.

In addition live track has been adjusted as well as multigroove adjustments at tracks and both lead us to high lines that are more competative.

The front end system will be something that each area is integrated over time...and with a storng and reliable content delivery system (upgrade system) we can deliver content easier with less support which ultimately takes time away from making our updates.

I believe as we stated we will have a very fun holiday of racing in ASR as well as many other titles.

Ultimately we have much to prove as we have said since we released and are completely aware. Were still here...and I am stating that NO ASR09 will be released. We will carry this title to 2010 and complete tracks and more and all included in your intitial purchase.

That means for the next 1.3 years its all free upgrades, and new features for ASR08.

We will at some point include the 2008 roster as well as 09 updates. New tracks are on the schedule for ARCA next year, the COT is in their future and more...so in the end...the work is never done...and there is always a track worthy of our rubber and some gas.

Thanks for the great thread and thanks to Mike Logan and the fellas at JGR that helped with the data and physics integration for our next update. It really is a team effort and we are proud to have you on our team.

THIS WEEK IN ARCA

General NewsARCA RE/MAX Series/Toledo Speedway: Next event Championship Weekend Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th featuring the ARCA RE/MAX Series Hantz Group 200 by Belle Tire and Federated Car Care Sunday.

This year’s race marks the 64th appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at its hometown Toledo Speedway since debuting there in 1963. At present, 44 first-class entries have been filed to compete for the 35-car starting field. The entry list includes drivers from 21 states and three countries. Current ARCA RE/MAX Series point leader Scott Speed leads Roush Fenway Racing’s Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. by 85 points headed into ARCA Championship Weekend at Toledo. That means that Speed can clinch the title by finishing 13th or better in the race. Speed is one of three drivers entered who will be attempting to make the starting field for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Saturday night. If Speed makes the Cup race, there will be a helicopter waiting across the street from Toledo Speedway to whisk Speed away immediately following his qualifying effort Saturday afternoon. The helicopter would take him to Metcalf Field Airport so that he could make it in time for Saturday night’s Cup race, which is scheduled to start at 7:25. Cup veterans David Ragan and Ken Schrader are also entered in the Hantz Group 200, and will also be competing in the Cup race in Charlotte Saturday. However, Ragan and Schrader will both forego SIM Factory Pole Qualifying at Toledo, which means that both will have to start from the tail-end at Toledo, provided that their sub drivers make the starting field for Sunday’s ARCA race. ARCA RE/MAX Series regulars Justin Allgaier and John Wes Townley will also be doing double duty as both will attempt to make the starting field for Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Lowe’s. Nine-time series champion Frank Kimmel is also the all-time Toledo winner with 9 wins on the half-mile oval. Toledo was also the site where Kimmel earned his career-first ARCA RE/MAX Series win in 1994. Kimmel’s victory march at Toledo also includes 5 consecutive from 2000-2004. Past winners at Toledo through the years include Bobby Bowsher, Benny Parsons, Blaise Alexander, Iggy Katona, Ken Schrader, Bill Venturini, Ramo Stott, Andy Hampton, Bob Strait, Michael McDowell and Matt Carter to name a few. 17 winners have won from the pole at Toledo.
